We added a new routine in our class. Aside from the individual focus skills, we will also focus on one skill as a class. This routine entails us some of us playing a game, while the rest of us watch. After the game, we engage in a discussion about our observations and reflections on the chosen skill. Our first collective skill is communication, and the game we are playing requires two players who are seated back to back and trying to create the same structure using polygon tiles. One student is the giver of information, and the other is the receiver. Both may ask questions throughout the game and one the structure is completed, they stand up and join the class in the discussion.

Skills improvement
BOPDs routinely reflect on their skills by focusing on one every week. Using the phrase, " I used to , Now I" they wrote evidence about their improvement. Afterwards, the class collected data to find out which skills were improved upon. Students created a graph to show the results and then with that information.
Keywords
BOPDs routinely choose a focus skill for the week that serves as a learning intention. This week we connected it to a keyword that will enable us to meet our goal.
Writing Samples
BOPDs underwent the process of choosing, planning and writing this week for writing samples. We started by looking at different choices for prompts, with each one garnering excited ideas from students. The next step was planning their story through brainstorming and mapping. The final step was writing a draft as best they could. BOPDs are aware that this was a process for assessment. Writing samples will be analyzed and results will be used as a learning map. Students will have a chance to share these with families when it is sent home in October.
Skills
This week we started our routine of choosing a focus skill. We will use this skill to guide our actions and reflect on our learning.
Thinking about skills
Each of us shared a skill that we have. We thought about what skills are and how they are connected to the skills that we learn and practice in ISM.
