Raz Kids

Raz Kids is an online library where students can access their 'good fit books'. Good fit books mean the text is not too easy that they get bored, not too hard that they get frustrated but a good fit, and it provides the right amount of a challenge for the student to learn, practice and apply reading strategies in making sense of the text. Their good fit level is determined by the Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment. A student's good fit level on Fountas and Pinnel has an equivalent on Raz Kids books as seen in the correlation chart below.

BOPDs are encouraged to read on Raz Kids as another source of books. A student may progress to another level on Raz Kids provided they invest time to listen, read and answer questions to the quiz. I ensure that their levels are aligned between Raz Kids and Fountas and Pinnell.

Raz Kids has interactive tools which enable the student to document thinking while reading. Parents can also sign up to receive reports about their child's performance. Another use is knowing your child's good fit level and their progress throughout the year.

Raz Kids is available online and on tablets. It's a great resource to keep students read, read, reading!
