Teachers

"It takes a village..."

We all collaborate in working closely towards your child's growth and progress in Third Grade. We look forward to our year together!

NAYNAY MONTILLA

Here we go! My name is Naynay Montilla, and I am your child's teacher. This is my second year teaching Third Grade, after having taught First Grade for ten years. My son Andreas is in fifth grade and my daughter Sevrine is in First Grade here at ISM. My lovely co-teachers in our classroom are Jenny Guinjicna and Nessel Reyes. I have loved every minute of my twelve years here and I am excited to start our year together.

AMANDA PHILLIPS

Mabuhay and welcome to all our new and returning families! My name is Amanda Phillips and I am the Grade 3 Program Leader and ESL Teacher. This is my fourth year teaching here at ISM. My husband, Jeff Phillips, teaches G6 English and Social Studies, and our daughter, Mara, is currently navigating her Terrible (and Terrific) Twos! I am looking forward to a year of learning with all of our G3 families.

How Does ESL Work at ISM?
The Elementary School ESL Program is an integral part of each grade level from Kindergarten to Grade 4. Our model of inclusion promotes collaborative teaching and learning in order to:

  • Plan for and meet the academic language standards of all students, with explicit attention given to students speaking English as an additional language.
  • Provide language lessons using the models of co-teaching
  • Facilitate inclusive education based on the six key principles for English Language Learning (ELL) instruction (Stanford, 2013)

Should you have questions or comments throughout the year, please feel free to contact me through email (phillipsa@ismanila.org) so we can set a time to meet in our new learning space in the ES Library.

JOHN VAN GAALEN    PE on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays
