Reflecting on Presentations

We set a routine of sharing feedback for passion project presentations and this has created a system of reflection. This week we heard a classmate present about programming that allowed us to think about responsibility when using computers. Another presentation was about Minecraft but what we noticed was how symbols and illustrations were used instead of words. We continue to learn together.

Cuisines of the World

Today was the grand one-day opening of our restaurant called, "Cuisines of the World". As a class passion project, we transformed our classroom into a restaurant. This meant using the skills and knowledge that we developed for our unit on Physical Wellbeing, focusing on nutrition. It also coincided with the ISM tradition of celebrating cultures on International Day. We served food that is meaningful to us, researched about the nutrients that it contains, and asked our parent community to join us in making our restaurant come to life.  We are grateful for all your help and hope that you enjoyed your time at our restaurant!

Our Restaurant, Our Passion

BOPDs are excited to open their restaurant tomorrow during International Day. It has been our class passion project to transform our classroom into a restaurant serving food from different cultures. It was a chance for us to research about the nutrients contained in foods that we usually eat, and an opportunity to collaborate on a project that celebrates culture. Today was our final day of setting up. Students set up tables and added the centerpieces. We learned a napkin fold from classmates and wrote "Thank You" notes to the parents who have volunteered to be the staff at our restaurant.

Creating a Restaurant

BOPDs split into committees for our class passion project of creating a restaurant. The committee on plates, glasses and cutlery brought some material from home. The committee on napkins and placemats, chose a napkin fold that they will teach to the class on Tuesday and made a video for demonstration. They also cleaned the placemats. The decorations and menu committee created posters for outside our class while others created paper flowers for our table centerpiece. The same committee created a playlist on Spotify for that day. The committee on menu designed a cover page that reflected what our restaurant is about and another couple composed the feedback page and edited the menu entries. We are excited to open our restaurant on International Day!
