Check for understanding

"Storyball, storyball, where do you go?
First we'll pass you then we'll know"

Whoever catches the storyball at the end of the chant, needs to see where their right thumb has landed. Different colors mean different elements of the story that they need to share with the group. This is a way to check for understanding. If the student is unable to identify the element, they may turn around to reread their chosen book and then rejoin to check for understanding.
We read for meaning.
