Inverse operations

BOPDs designed a new Tuesday Math routine that will help us practice our skill on connecting multiplication with division. We are also learning to represent an unknown answer with a letter. In this routine we have agreed to start with a multiplication problem and then we need to show our solutions in four ways: arrays, words, number talk, and a division equation.

Stuck? Good.

Getting stuck on a number problem motivated the class to synthesize their thinking! The momentum propelled us to perform a self-assessment on our understanding of Mathematics. BOPDs have now designed a number routine that will address their need based on their reflection.

Number Talks

Number Talks are fun and interesting because it gives us a chance to share our thinking about numbers, and solve problems together. We tried it for the first time today so we learned the signals needed to show our thinking, and then we shared our solutions. In the end, we identified the strategies and tools that helped us solve the number problem.
