Birthdays and desks

A new month signals a change in our seating arrangement. Learning from our past attempt and keeping  in mind our agreement of making sure that there are at least two boys or two girls on every table, we decided on the guidelines for the next three months. For October, we will group ourselves by birthdays,on November by after-school activities and December by randomly picking names. Today we looked at all our birthdays and this prompted a student to ask,"Who is the oldest in our class?" We arranged our birthday strips in an array and found out many things about each other aside from our birthdays. To our delight, when we divided groups into four birthdays each, it produced desk assignments that aligned with our agreements!

Fables and values

Ms Montilla introduced fables by reading the story of The Turtle and the Hare. Students recognized the elements of a fable and connected the message to the way we reply to questions in our classroom. our guideline is depth not speed. Fables center on a value or a moral that is illustrated through a story.

The class has spoken. We are extremely excited to have Santino represent our class in the student council and we come together as a class to support him.
