The Joy of Journals

To get us really thinking about making meaning, Ms Montilla brought all the journals she has from home. Using a thinking routine called, 'See Think Wonder', we wrote what our thoughts on the whiteboard and later talked about them. There were many ideas shared and it generated a discussion about why Ms Montilla has been writing in journals since she was in elementary school. One student asked,"Will we have journals?" and this led to them thinking about the purpose of the journals that they will keep in school.
