What does the word 'inference' mean and how would we find out?

BOPDs devised strategies and used tools to investigate the meaning of 'inference'. There were many who relied on websites and dictionaries. And still others who broke the word into parts to analyze how those parts make the whole meaning of the word.

Once successful, we shared our findings and used that knowledge at our Inference Plaza! Ms Montilla set up the classroom arrayed with our vacation write-ups. We needed to make an educated guess based on reason or evidence to decipher who may have authored the pieces. BOPDs moved around the classroom reading the write ups and noting what reason or evidence allowed them to infer about the author and message of the vacation pieces.
